Dance 101: Stage Hair and Makeup for Young Ballerinas

In this one time class, young ballerinas ages 8-12 will learn how to do their own hair and makeup for ballet recitals. Since different studios have different requirements, this course will demonstrate how to do basic stage hair and makeup.

Class Experience

In this one time class, students will learn about stage makeup and why it is important during ballet performances. Students will learn how to do basic stage hair and makeup by video demonstration. In the video, I will discuss why stage makeup is important for on stage performances, show students the materials needed in order to their own stage hair and makeup at home and demonstrate step by step how to put their hair in a ballet bun and how to apply different types of makeup to the face (Eyes, lips, etc) by using a young ballerina as a model. Learners will be able to interact with me and and one another by answering discussion questions posted in the classroom. I will ask them what they have learned, what was easy for them, what was difficult for them, and if they have any other questions or comments. Students will not need any prior experience or knowledge in order to this class.

Students will learn the importance of stage hair and makeup in ballet performances, the hair and makeup materials needed, and how to apply them to their hair and face.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Allergic reaction to makeup while using certain makeup products may occur like burning, itching, breakouts, or swelling. Please test makeup on small areas of skin before applyIng on the face. Discontinue makeup if allergic reactions continue.
Supply List
Comb, elastic bands, bobby pins, hair spray, moisturizer, foundation (liquid or stick that matches their skin tone), black eyeliner, black mascara, eyeshadow palette (colors depending on your studio), eyebrow powder or pencil, red lipstick and blush (color depending on your studio).

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
