I am a certified elementary teacher and certified reading therapist. I am offering this class to give students an in-depth study of how our English words are structured, and how to break them down into their sounds in order to make decoding easier. I teach each lesson using the Phono-graphix method which I have been formally trained in by the program authors. I have been using this strategy with my private students for over 20 years and my students have had amazing success with it.
Students are expected to complete the homework assignment each day. The vocabulary assignment is to write a creative sentence using the word of the day.
3 files available upon enrollmentThe only supplies needed are paper and pencil or a whiteboard and marker. I encourage students to keep a journal or collection of their daily words so they can review them at a later time and challenge themselves to use their new vocabulary words more often.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will receive informal feedback from the teacher through the classroom messaging system.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using teacher-created materials for this class.
