Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Who doesn't want to be knowledgeable of current events? When I was a kid, the television sat at the end of the kitchen table and we ate dinner watching the nightly news. I grew up with an appreciation of global news, not the "who shot who" or the "if it bleeds, it leads" stories from local news, but important global news! I love recreating this for students of today! We will review a daily student type news report for 10 minutes, breaking in between each story and discussing the day's news. There is a heavy emphasis on global stories and science. This is a great way to start the day, or a break in between subjects, and you will be amazed as your student develops the ability to speak intelligently about current events.

Hello! Are you ready for your kids to have a new, engaging, fun learning experience??? I am a former public school teacher who teaches with fun in mind! I teach history, current events, science, writing, reading, and of course..math! My Bachelor's of Science in Education is from Old Dominion University and I scored in the top 98% percentile on the National Teacher's Exam. I am currently licensed in the state of Virginia. None of that matters to your kids, so know that I have been referred to as "the best teacher ever!", "favorite teacher", and "pretty cool, for a teacher!" Not only have I taught kindergarten through 5th grade in public school, I am also part owner of a fun and quirky music and arts shop in my town! If living on a boat isn't off the beaten path, I have also traveled to three continents and Central America, and currently have checked off all 50 states on my travel list. I think education is life long and melds into different disciplines. Looking at history, culture, science, philosophy, literature and arts from several different angles is my specialty. I also believe that life is short, so we should pack in all the fun and adventure as possible! Sign your kid up with a class with me, and they will forget that they are learning awesome skills as we have fun!
