Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this ongoing class/club, we learn all about dinosaurs! Each class meeting (3x/week), we learn about a different dinosaur or other extinct creature. We discuss scientific facts about dinosaurs (and other prehistoric creatures) based on what paleontologists and other scientists know/believe to be true at this current time.

"Daily Dose of Dinosaurs Club" is a casual, interactive class that is both educational and fun! I share pictures and videos of dinosaurs, including but not limited to their diets (were they carnivores, omnivores, or herbivores?), bones/fossils, skeleton locations and who discovered them, the period of time in which they likely existed, causes of extinction, and everything else related to dinosaurs/extinct creatures!

Students are able to interact with other students and myself at any time! They are welcome to raise their hands (or click the "raise hand" function on Zoom) and I call on them ASAP. I encourage students to share and converse with other students. Throughout class, we all talk with each other. It's a lot of fun!

I love to help foster students' desire to learn. I enjoy teaching students about fun things (like dinosaurs!), while also imploring them to dive into the subject on their own. I specifically ask questions to help the student with critical thinking skills! I believe this style of teaching can help children in all facets of life.

I also like to describe my teaching style as "have fun while learning!" It's important to stay focused and on task, but if a student gets bored, they won't learn or remember as much as a student who is being challenged and having fun. This class is casual and laid back (but still structured), providing a fun environment where your students will feel comfortable and excited to interact! I am very friendly, fun, and energetic, and honestly, I smile pretty much ALL the time! How could I not with such amazing students?!

Students do not need any prior knowledge or experience to join this club.

~Week 1-4: We will learn about 3 different dinosaurs.
~Week 5 and on: We will learn about more dinosaurs, with each class centered on one or two prehistoric creatures!

I hope to see your student(s) in the Daily Dose of Dinosaurs Club! Thank you for your consideration! -Miss Lyndsay

Hello, I’m Miss Lyndsay!

I’m a teacher and tutor with 18+ years of experience. I taught in a brick-and-mortar classroom (both typical education and special education) for several years, as well as tutoring for 15+ years. I have since shifted to online teaching and tutoring. I specialize in math, science, and language arts, but enjoy teaching all subjects! I generally work with learners between the ages of 3 and 15.

I received a Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Cleveland State University (Cleveland, Ohio) in 2011. *It was through this that I received formal education specific to children with autism, ADHD, and mood conditions.

I received an Associate of Arts (Journalism) from Lorain County Community College (Elyria, Ohio) in 2007.

I was a paraprofessional for the Elyria City School District (Elyria, Ohio) before becoming an academic tutor. I’ve tutored in Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, in addition to students throughout multiple countries.

My philosophy of teaching is to have fun while learning! If my learners are bored, they will struggle with retaining the information. By adding a little (structured) fun, learners can better remember the material. I always use positive reinforcement and encourage my learners!

Two fun things about me: I can juggle (I’ll show you!) and I have an apricot toy poodle named Archie (you might see him sometimes, he’s pretty cute).

---

Note: I still teach classes even if only one learner is enrolled. I do not cancel due to low enrollments.

I look forward to meeting and teaching your child/children; thank you for considering me!
