Día De Muertos (Day of the Dead) for Littles

In this class, students will learn about Día De Muertos / Día de Los Muertos / Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico and the U.S. We will learn Spanish words relating to the holiday, discuss the customs/food, and compare/contrast Halloween. The movie Coco will be mentioned as well.

Class Experience

Students will learn age-appropriate facts about the Mexican Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) holiday and how it is celebrated in Mexico and the United States. The teacher, who is of Chicana / Mexican heritage, will explain common misconceptions of this holiday. Students will be provided with a coloring page prior to the beginning of class.

The class will be conducted in English with some Spanish words related to the content. The teacher will define these words as she presents her material. No previous Spanish experience is required.
