Class Experience
Your child knows their sound, now it’s time to blend. " A" is being introduced only as short /a/. (32 total word) — Activities that will help kids understand what sound short “a” makes and how it can be in the beginning or middle of a word. — Modeling how to make the short “a” sound with your mouth --Practicing VC words and CVC words that involve short A ( tapping out words, writing the words, and spelling the word) --Phonemic Awareness, Visual Drills, Auditory Drills, Blending, Word Work,...
Students will improve their understanding of CVC shorts with the short “a” sound. Learning CVC words will introduce to your child the concept that words have a beginning, middle, and ending sound that together create a word. The goal is for your child to use their knowledge of individual letter sounds to blend those sounds together and create a whole new word.
I have taught both 1st and 2nd grade classes. I have a degree in elementary education and have lots of experience teaching CVC words.
