Cut Paper Collages on Canvas: Experimenting With Watercolor (Ages 13 To 17)
What's included
4 live meetings
4 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this course, students will learn the art of cut paper collage and how to utilize different household materials with watercolors to create beautiful painted textures and patterns on their papers. Students will use these papers to create their subject matter on the layered tissue paper canvas background. The first day, students will mainly layer tissue paper on their canvas with Mod Podge. During this class, students will experiment with tearing their tissue paper into different shapes and layering them onto canvas. It is recommended, but not required to use tissue paper that can bleed into different layers when glazed with the Mod Podge. If time permits, students will start to follow my material and techniques demonstrations using watercolors and household materials. The second day of class will be spent experimenting with materials and techniques using watercolors and the household materials. This will be semi- structured with multiple demonstrations taught by the teacher using each technique. On the third day of class, students will start to draw their chosen subject mater onto canvas with a sharpie. Once their drawing is complete, they will use their watercolor paintings from the previous class to cut the shapes needed to fill in their drawing. The last day of class will mostly be spent continuing to the cut paper process to complete their image on canvas. Class may run 10 minutes over on this day to allow for show and tell!
