4 in-class hoursClass Experience
Each lesson will be structured as follows: 25 minutes of handwriting practice; followed by a 10 minute break; and ending with 25 additional minutes of handwriting practice. Each lesson will include a demonstration and several worksheets. Students will be required to spend an ample amount of time in between classes practicing what they have learned. The worksheets are to be used for guided practice of what was covered in the corresponding lesson. The focus of this class will be learning the mechanics and art of standard, cursive handwriting. During the four sessions offered, all 26 letters of the alphabet (in both their upper- and lower-case forms), as well as some punctuation marks, will be demonstrated. In addition to assigned homework, each student will have the opportunity to submit their work for review and to receive suggestions from the teacher for possible improvement at any point during the section. Resources, including links to articles and videos of interest and vocabulary lists and other notes prepared by the teacher, will be posted on the classroom page. Students will be given the opportunity to have their work displayed on the classroom page, as well. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Western Governors University
When I attended elementary school in the 1970s, neat, legible, cursive handwriting was an important part of our education. I received good grades then and compliments throughout my life on my beautiful penmanship. In recent years, I’ve also dabbled in hand lettering and calligraphy art and have participated in events such as The Graceful Envelope Contest.
I have been teaching the following courses on Outschool since 2018:
Tails and Curls: The Art of Cursive Handwriting;
Penmanship Pals: Cursive Handwriting and Fine Motor Skills Practice
Penmanship Pals: Print Handwriting and Fine Motor Skills Practice
Words & Pictures: Written Language and Illustration
I am a member of IAMPETH (International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting and have attended numerous IAMPETH programs and workshops.
Your students will find me to be patient, cheerful, and fun, and I look forward to being their teacher.
