US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
In this class you'll learn the basics of using cursive handwriting in your daily life, how to self-correct, and what to prioritize depending on the situation. This class is structured into video lessons that cover a lot of information at once. I've condensed letter formation with connections in the "pangram" video which means you'll be learning a-z as well as how to connect lower case, as well as how to prevent and correct common errors. If you'd like feedback on your writing, I'd be happy to provide feedback - you can simply send me a clear photo of your writing. This class is formatted into 5 videos with suggested homework after each. It's possible to complete this entire class in one day, or take as long as you desire! I learned cursive handwriting when I was six years old and been using it in daily life ever since. I've been teaching it on Outschool since 2020 and helped many learners write fluently during live classes. I have experience writing Abeka, D'Nealian, New Americal Cursive, New South Wales Cursive, Zaner Bloser and many other styles.
Learning Goals
After this course, a self-initiated and independent learner will know everything they need about using cursive in their daily life. If you'd like more support, I offer one and two week intensive classes, weekly private classes, one-time classes, and weekly group classes for practice.
Syllabus
3 Units
5 Lessons
over 1 WeekUnit 1: Introduction and Appropriate Setup
Lesson 1:
Basic Proportion and Alignment
This lesson shows you how to set-up your paper to ensure your letters are proportionate, and that writing cursive will feel as natural as possible for you.
Unit 2: Lower Case
Lesson 2:
Pangram Madness
This lesson shows you how to write the lower case a-z, as well as how to connect each letter to the next one. You'll learn much more in this single video than what it typically taught with traditional cursive teaching methods, so I recommend coming back to watch this one more than once.
Lesson 3:
Tricky Connections and Avoiding Common Mistakes
This lesson shows you how to avoid most common beginner mistakes. You'll get an idea of how the lower case b, v, o, and w connect to the following letter differently, as long as a review of how to keep your writing neat with minimal effort.
Unit 3: Lower Case Review & All Upper Case
Lesson 4:
Tricky Letters: Upper and Lower Case
This lesson will review the trickiest lower case letters and introduce you to the trickiest upper case letters.
