I like to call it the "Cursive Connection" since we learn how to connect the letters together in the simplest way to improve speed in their handwriting, but also readability. Cursive is not widely taught in schools these days - it's kind of hit or miss depending where you live. I know that even as a sixth grade teacher, many students do not know how the read the board when I put instructions up in cursive! With so many historic documents written in cursive, I find it important to continue to...
In this class we will focus on five letters each week that are similar to each other. They will learn the proper direction to form the letters, and the correct place to start each letter. I will watch them form their letters and then we will choose which one is their best. This is a fun and engaging class. It's helpful when students have the ability to have two cameras or be able to move their camera up and down to show me their work as they go and then move back up to watch instruction. If connecting a second camera, disconnect the audio to eliminate an echo. Let's get connected together!
Learners will practice their handwriting completing the handout I provide for them. They can also practice more than that if they want to. Like I always say, people practice sports and play video games - practicing to write is no different. I hope they have fun practicing and use some time to self-correct and recognize their best work!
Pencil or pens Paper Access to a printer to print handouts for the week Motivation stickers (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
At the end of each class, we will connect the letters from the day together and will brainstorm to come up with words to make out of the letters we've practiced.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
