Students will learn the basic strokes of undercurve, downcurve, overcurve, and slant. These all have a certain shape, size, and spacing. Week 1- students will learn and practice the starts of letters, how to sit and place paper, grip of pencil, as well the lowercase undercurve i,t,u,w,e,l,b,h,f,k,r,s,j,p and downcurve a,d,g,o,c,q letters . Week 2- Next will be the lowercase overcurve n,m,y,x,v,z letters, review of all lowercase letters, and the uppercase downcurve A, O D, C, E letters Week 3- Final week will be the uppercase curve forward M,M,H, K,U,Y,Z,V,W,X letters, overcurve and double curve I,J,Q,T,F letters, and undercurve-loop G,S,L and undercurve P,R,B -slant letter Week 4- Review all letters and form words and sentences. In addition, students will practice reading the words to me and to each other. Students will observe the letters written on a white board with correct lines and spacing. I will model the correct formation of the letters as well as common mistakes first. Then students will air write them (which will be modeled for them before they try). Lastly, the students will write them on a piece of paper to then show to me for praise and suggestions. Students will interact after they do an individual letter and then whole line and demonstrate it to me and the other students when everyone is finished. Students will be able to ask questions or have feedback via chat during class or email afterwards as well if desired. Students do not need to have any other experience to take this course.

The students will be able to write the cursive letters of the alphabet and read them as well.

Pencil and sharpener If you are unable to purchase handwriting paper, I can email a pdf of a the print paper that can be used to print out. In addition, if a child has a challenge with his or her grip, grips can be recommended. Other optional tools... sand, shaving cream, highlighter for practice between classes

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
