This is a great class to help your student understand the upcoming election, and topics that are being discussed prior to the November election. Students will watch clips of a student news show from the prior week. After each clip we will discuss the events themselves, why they happened, and the global consequences. The ultimate goal is for them to be able to ask questions about the current events themselves! Additionally we will discuss the concept of bias, and attempt to teach the idea...
Students will improve their understanding of current events, and the global community.
As a social studies teacher for 13 years I have taught multiple current event classes for both middle and high school aged students. I'm able to curate age appropriate material and discussions.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The class will be using clips from a student news show that is designed for middle and high school students so the news is created with that age group in mind.
