I have a professional teaching certificate in the field of Special Education and grades K - 12, and I have been teaching elementary school aged kids for over four years. This class is intended for current subscribers to a weekly paper news publication, so each student should have their own copy. I use a weekly news publication for junior readers. I will refer to articles within the magazine as part of the discussion, but we will not be reading the articles during class or looking at the magazine in class. I advise parents to read the magazine with their learner. This will ensure that parents find the material suitable for their learner. The publication is aimed at ages 8 - 14. Students can still participate without the magazine, but they will enjoy class more if they have read it before class.
