Students can stay on top of trending news and current events in this fun and interactive group! We will discuss the headlines and trending news about new products, business, entertainment and sports. See how hot new products, company and celebrity mistakes, and economic events affect us and the way we live. The discussion chat will meet weekly for 4 weeks.

This course will help students engage with the world around them and help them make sense of current events. It will them make better decisions as consumers and citizens. How is AI being used? How will it change our lives? Which streaming platform has the best new content? Will the strike by autoworkers help or hurt the future of electric vehicles and self driving cars? Each week we will review the major headlines and discuss how the latest news will affect the products we buy, shows we watch, and what the future may look like. There are no prerequisites for course. Students who have an interest in what's going on around them and sharing information and view points will LOVE this course. Articles and video clips of news reports will be used to to summarize and explain the headlines. Students will be encouraged to bring current event topics they would like to discuss to class.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their knowledge of current events including business news, economic events, and new product development. This is a discussion based class so students will gain experience and confidence in presenting their ideas, analyzing information, and developing informed opinions.
