Curious Kids: All the Colors of the Rainbow!

During this 45 minute class, students will learn about the colors of the rainbow and how each color is special and important in its own way just like us. Students will be expected to show kindness and respect to others as they share and to participate in games and activities during our time together. Students will: ~Practice listening and speaking skills as they share their favorite colors and something that is that color with other group members. ~Play a quick teacher led “I Spy” color game as a group. ~Listen to and discuss what happens in the story "The Crayon Box that Talked" by Shane DeRolf and the message/moral of the story. ~Draw a picture using a variety of colors and ideas heard while listening to the story to keep them engaged and focused while listening to the story. ~Show and tell about their drawings with the group (if they feel comfortable.) ~Examine pictures of rainbows, notice the order of the colors of the rainbow, and learn the ROY G. BIV acronym to remember the color order. ~Participate in a step by step “rainbow bridge” color experiment.

Parental Guidance
Younger children may need a little parent support with folding the paper towel and placing it correctly in the cups of water as they follow the teacher's step by step directions and modeling for the rainbow bridge color experiment.
Supply List
Students will need paper to draw on, colored markers (washable-not permanent) , a paper towel, two cups (close in size) with water in each.
