Class Experience

**** Please follow the "Measuring Video" and measure out ingredient before class****
**** Teacher Elaine provides posts to set up for success in the kitchen****
**** This class focuses on baking techniques. A simple frosting method is used.****

Welcome to "Cupcake Central" where students can take classes, develop good kitchen habits, learn "why" of baking, and become empowered bakers and cake decorators. In this class, we will only focus on shopping, getting reading to bake( mise en place), and making homemade lemon cupcakes.

First, there will be some guidance through posts and videos. We want your student safe, prepared, and equipped. On Outschool, students can maximize their class time, if they have their ingredients measured out separately and at the proper temperature. Teacher Elaine provides an instructional video and explains why this is important. There is a science and an art to baking. We eat with our eyes first and then, we taste.

What makes a cupcake light, tasty, and fluffy? Your student will find out here at "Cupcake Central"!

After the learners prepare for class, the students will learn to read and follow the recipe LIVE. Teacher Elaine will guide your student from the beginning to the end. While the cupcakes are baking, students will learn to prepare the vanilla buttercream frosting. If there is enough time to cool the cupcakes, student will frost them in class.

****Please look over the learning goals to see if this is a good fit for your learner. ****

I love baking. I enjoyed making cupcakes. One of my first jobs in high school was working in a college cafeteria. It was not an average college cafeteria. There were many special occasions and events year round. I learned quantity cooking. I was always baking at home. However, this high school job is where I gained standardized and quantity cooking experience. I went on to study and work in the food and beverage industry. My favorite class was Food Chemistry! After teaching ESL abroad, I returned to the states and became a food service instructor. Truthfully, whether I have been in the kitchen watching my dad fry chicken, at my cousin's house making tacos, or working with my own kiddos, I have had the best fun in a home kitchen! I would like to share some of these experiences in class and have some home baking fun! My teaching style is interactive and practical. I explain why we do what we do and demonstrate the process as we go. Get ready for a new cooking adventure with me! I will see you soon.
