In this culinary math club, we will measure ingredients, find equivalent fractions and decimals, and practice unit conversions, while following a different recipe each week to cook or bake a delicious snack or meal!

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will practice and increase their confidence with converting, comparing, and finding equivalent fractions and decimals, as well as practicing unit conversions, while cooking or baking a delicious new recipe every week!
I love to cook and bake - in my spare time, creating and trying new recipes is one of my absolute favorite hobbies! I also love to garden throughout as much of the year as I can; with the produce that I grow, I love to incorporate it into many of my recipes - Lemon Zucchini Bread is definitely one of my favorites!

I am a certified elementary school teacher with over 5 years of experience teaching 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade in the public school system. I have my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I have been teaching online for over a year.

It is my educational philosophy to always make learning fun, hands-on, and engaging! In this class, I want my students to practice several math skills while having fun, with a hands-on, real-world application through cooking and baking!
Access to typical kitchen supplies and appliances to include, but not limited to:
-oven and stovetop
-microwave oven
-hand mixer
-measuring cups and spoons
-mixing bowls
-mixing instruments (spatula, large spoon, etc.)
-aluminum foil, parchment paper, muffin liners, etc.

Parental guidance is encouraged during use of knives and during cooking/baking times. Notice of needing to use these items/appliances will be posted in the classroom at least 48 hours prior to the class meeting, along with the ingredients needed for that week's recipe.
