Class Experience

*Students will learn what the composition or chemical makeup of the stones are
*Students will learn some folklore surrounding the stones
*Students will learn where the various types of precious gems may be found
*Students will learn some history of the use of these stones and crystals
*Students will discover if there are any industrial uses for precious gems
I have been collecting and researching crystals and gemstones for many years. I have an extensive collection of crystals and a deep fascination with learning how crystals have been used throughout history. My son hunts and polishes stones in his basement workshop, so I am very familiar with the process of finding and bringing stones to their polished beauty. I love crystals and gemstones, both for their beauty and their versatility.
There is no homework for this one-time class.
No outside materials are needed. Students may bring specimens of these precious stones to share with other learners.
A group Jeopardy game at the end of the session will help students see how much they remember about precious stones.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
