Join us to learn some fun facts and beliefs about Emeralds, Diamonds, Sapphire and Rubies, the precious gems. During the class we will discover the structure of each, and why they have their rich colors. We will find out where they can be found and learn about some famous gems. Many believe gemstones have special properties that promote healing, well-being and mystery. Learn more about these beliefs and let us know what you think! Students will be encouraged to take notes on the information about the crystals presented in class, using a KWL chart. The class will participate in a "Jeopardy" game at the end of the class to see how much they can remember about these precious gems. * These subject areas are included in this class: science, geography, social studies, math, language arts, and a group assessment.

*Students will learn some folklore surrounding the stones
*Students will learn where the various types of precious gems may be found
*Students will learn some history of the use of these stones and crystals
