Class Experience

We will do a Feelings Meditation: Breathing in/Hello Anger/Breathing out/Letting go of anger,,,,Breathing in/Hello sadness/Breathing out/Letting go of sadness.

Each class will involve students in Restorative Yoga poses, for 5-10 minutes each. I will allow ample time for students to change from one pose to the next, to make sure that they are easing into the poses and positioning the props correctly.

These gentle poses are designed to create relaxation of body and mind. I will instruct students where to place their pillows, rolled up towels, and/or bolster. The props support the body, allowing muscles to release and relax their usual grip on the joints, ligaments, and tendons.

I will guide students in Awareness of Breathing Meditation and Feelings Meditation to facilitate relaxation during each pose.

My teaching style is: Connection, Encouragement, and Guidance
My experience is: Restorative Yoga Lessons for Children (Private); Restorative Yoga for Adults (Harvard Wellness Center).
I have been a practitioner of various meditation techniques and disciplines for over 25 years.
As a Restorative Yoga teacher, I believe it's important for me to embody the stillness and focused awareness that I am teaching.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to calm and let go of difficult emotions through Restorative Yoga and “Feelings Meditation“. Students will learn deeply relaxing Restorative Yoga poses that they can do at home. These are skills that they can use throughout their lives. These gentle, supported poses allow the muscles to relax and create a deep, whole body relaxation. When practicing at home, students can pick their favorite poses and do 2 poses a day for 10 minutes each, or they can do 1 pose a day for 15 minutes. They can also do the 30 Minute routine. Students can make Restorative Yoga a part of their daily life, in whatever way works for them.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Parents will need to be in the room while your child takes Restorative Yoga class. Please watch as I demonstrate the poses, and make sure your child adjusts themselves into each pose correctly. These are very gentle poses, designed to create a deep relaxation of the body. There should be no discomfort in Restorative Yoga. If your child feels any discomfort, please have him or her stop doing the pose, sit cross legged or lie in a comfortable position until the next pose. Thank you.
Supply List
Students will need to be in an open workout space; students will need slip proof socks or bare feet; students will need to be on a mat; students will need proper clothing (yoga pants, a t-shirt, or loose clothing). For one of the poses, students will need access to a wall without anything blocking it.

Each student will need to have the following:

A quiet, peaceful, and warm space

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Outschool families! My name is Teacher Jane. Welcome to my classroom. I have over 15 years teaching experience. I taught private Piano Lessons for Children, Restorative Yoga for Children, and Restorative Yoga for adults. I have practiced the ancient art of storytelling for many years, starting with the homeschooling group my son was in. I have a Bachelor's Degree from Harvard University. For the past 2 years, I've been an online ESL Teacher. I'm a musician, actor, horseback rider, meditator, and practitioner of Natural Horsemanship. I call my teaching philosophy CEG: Connection, Encouragement, and Guidance. I believe it's important to establish a connection with each student, so they learn and grow from the teacher-student relationship, as well as the curriculum.
Fun fact about me: My cat's name is Tigre, which is the Spanish word for tiger!
