Do you love crystals, rocks, stones, and minerals of all shapes and kinds? Are you always finding stones that you just have to bring home? Do you like learning about how crystals are made and about where they can be found around the world? Yes?! Awesome, welcome to your new favorite club! In this class we will divide our time into exploration of a different stone each week and sharing favorites from our own collections and wish-lists. We will discuss geological origins of stones (Where did this come from, and how?) and learn things about crystalline structure and composition. We will examine actual stones as well as photographs and compare/discuss different varieties of crystals. After our lesson students will have the chance to share, show-and-tell-style, from their own collection or knowledge base. We will be studying. the following stones and crystals for the next four weeks: Week 1: Rose Quartz Week 2: Amethyst Week 3: Tiger's Eye Week 4: Aventurine You are encouraged to join in any class or to come for every Club class! This is a great opportunity for us to learn from one another by asking questions, thinking, and discussing. No need to have a collection or any prior knowledge to enjoy this class! This class is an ongoing club so students are welcome to join in any week. Drop in once or stay a while. I am so excited to meet you and share my appreciation of rocks, crystals, and geology with you!
Learning Goals
Students will learn geology basics and foundational research skills. They will be invited to express their ideas and questions, encouraging critical thinking. Students will also learn conversational skills such as patient listening, sharing knowledge, taking turns, and asking questions.

Hello Learners! I'm Taylor. I am a TESOL teacher currently pursuing my Master's Degree. This school year I am the Core substitute at my district's virtual elementary and middle school. I spend my days helping lead kids through material, and I love what I do. I'm also a Registered Yoga Teacher, a photographer, and a nature enthusiast. My appreciation for rocks and crystals began when I lived in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Arvada, Colorado for three years. While I was in Colorado, I became more intentional about my collecting and learning about rocks and crystals, and that love has only grown with the years. I'm so thrilled to share one of my favorite things with students on Outschool!
