Students will solve a new cryptogram each week with teacher support. A cryptogram is a type of puzzle that consists of a short piece of encrypted text. Students will gain a basic understanding of how encryption works, why it is important, and how it has been used in history. In order to solve the puzzles, students will gain a deeper understanding of English, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. Students will receive a printable puzzle before class. Class Structure: Intro + Daily Fun Fact (3-5 min) Explanation of Cryptograms and How to Solve (3-5 min) Solve 2 Cryptograms (40-45 min) Fun Facts: Alan Turing and Bombe Machine Phaistos Disk Caesar Cipher Khnumhotep II Cipher Email Encryption ENIGMA Machine Windtalkers

Students should understand why the content is important and how it can be applied to their daily life. I use different teaching methods and students enjoy learning in new and interesting ways. I'm a relaxed teacher who enjoys engaging with students and I encourage students to apply the knowledge and skills they are learning with a hands-on and natural approach.
