This club is your exclusive hall pass to the school counselor’s office. It’s designed to fit the needs of high-achieving high schoolers who are planning to attend college. We will meet twice a week to roll up our sleeves and work on crushing your college goals. This will be your support system to help you get into the college of your dreams. You will learn to communicate ideas, share opinions, develop critical thinking and social skills, all while working towards goals. I’m here to keep you informed, motivated and on the right track. Together we will construct your personalized College and Career Action plan complete with your own long-term and short-term goals. You will have a personalized agenda and each session, we will look at what upcoming long-term and short-term deadlines you have, and what you need to be doing next to get you into the college. Bring in your college, career and scholarship questions and concerns and I will help you. Here is a list of potential questions you may want help with: - What types of internships, jobs, community service, and extracurricular activities will look best on college applications? - What college admissions tests should I take, and when? - How do I prepare for college admissions tests? - How do I get scholarships? - How do I get into competitive school programs? - What types of school electives should I take? - What colleges are right for me? - How do I write a college admissions essay that shows rather than tells? - How do I know which colleges are the right fit for me? - Who do I ask for a letter of recommendation? - What is early action vs. early decision vs. regular decision? - What is the Common Application? - What are the steps for playing collegiate sports? - What should I be doing in my 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade year to be where I need to be? In addition, we will: - Discuss the nuts and bolts of college admissions - College and Career evaluation and consultation - Interact live and get your questions answered immediately - Homework assignments - Accountability for each session with homework review - Evaluate application materials and personal statement Homeschool, Public-School and Private-School students are all invited.
