**PLEASE NOTE** This class is not suited to absolute beginners. Students who have never crocheted before can take one of my beginners classes before joining this club. In this fun crocheting club, we will look at how to make different items, learn different crocheting stitches and chat about all sorts of general things while we work. This class is a learner-led class, meaning we will create whatever you, the student, want to. Each week we will decide what to create, consider the stitches we want to use, or even look for a pattern to follow from the FREE crochet and knitting pattern website, Lovecrafts.com. Here are just some of the items we can make: - coasters - hats - fingerless and full mittens - scarves - mug warmers - cuddly toys (teddy, hungry caterpillar, floppy rabbit) - amigurumi (tiny crocheted animals) Sometimes, especially if we decide to learn a new stitch - like the fun loop stitch - we might just crochet a square patch. I love using crochet to make gifts for family and friends, and I'm sure you'll enjoy sharing your projects too.

Often we will visit the website www.lovecrafts.com to look for free crocheting patterns to use together in class.
Supply List
You will need: * A crochet hook - any size will do, or a variety of sizes if you have access to them. * Some 4-ply wool or yarn in the colours of your choice. Ongoing projects may have specific colours, eg. brown for teddy bears, but these will be specified ahead of time. NOTE: Go with plain simple wool or yarn, as fancy or textured yarn (chenille etc) can be difficult to work with at first. * Scissors to cut the yarn.

I'm a qualified teacher, experienced in teaching English, History, Music, and Art. I home educated my two children, who are now at university, and I have taught in mainstream schools, and in Special-Ed schools.
I have also taught piano, guitar, singing, and music theory, taking students through grade examinations.
I am experienced in teaching the British GCSEs, and through home-schooling, I taught my own children using American curriculum. I teach Language Arts, English Literature and Language, Creative Writing, Poetry - both writing, and reading, and many other fantastic and interesting topics.
I teach writing skills using the Writing Revolution techniques, and have seen students improve their writing skills rapidly using some of the techniques applied.
In addition, I worked as a graphic designer for 10 years, working from home, and offer graphic design and video editing classes, using Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and soon, Affinity creative suite.
Growth Mindset is very important in my classes, and I encourage it in all learners - Growth Mindset is the belief that even if you can't do something or don't understand something, then you CAN learn how to do it or understand it. Growth Mindset says "I can't do it YET, but I can learn." Learning happens through making mistakes, and then modifying your approach, changing what you do, to improve. I encourage all learners to try, and to feel comfortable making mistakes, because that's how we all learn.
