Class Experience
In this class I will teach students step by step to follow a pattern to crochet a large blanket. Students should know how to chain, single crochet, and double crochet prior to this class. We will learn treble crochet, front post treble crochet, front post double crochet, and the combination of stitches to create an interesting pattern for the blanket. I will post short videos of each step so that students do not have to search through a long video for the step they are on. In the first week, we will work on the first 30 rows of the pattern. During this week, students can upload pictures of their progress and talk about challenges and parts they thought were easy on the classroom page. In the second week we will begin to learn the pattern for the middle section of the blanket. This week we will have a box challenge to see who can make the most boxes on their blanket each day. Students will post photos in the classroom page to show their progress. During the third week of class we will continue the middle section of the blanket. In this week, students will post "how many things can my blanket cover" pictures. They can cover stuffed animals, friends, family, pets, anything. In the final week of class we will move onto the last section of the blanket. During this week, I will encourage students to talk about a project they plan to make next and talk about the things they liked about this project. Finally, students can post pictures of their finished blanket. There will be a written pattern available at the beginning of class for students to use throughout. I will explain to students how to follow the pattern in the first video and give reminders in each of the videos. I will encourage students and help them problem solve through any challenges they may encounter throughout the class. Our goal is to finish the blanket by the end of the session. Students can contact me as much as they need throughout the session.
