Beginner Level
Students will have a clear view of my work area, to completely see each step I take when creating crochet. I will repeat each step several times, and ask questions to make sure each and every student has grasped the current step, before proceeding to the next. This is a one time class that will focus on the foundation of crochet. Students will learn the basics of crochet. Such as: Slip knot Chain stitch Single Crochet (SC) Slip stitch (SS) We will discuss the different types of yarn and crochet hooks and how they effect the outcome of your work. Look at abbreviation of each stitch and symbols that represents that stitch in a crochet diagrams. Reading a basic pattern, and breaking down what it means. All while we practice, practice, practice each stitch. As we work together I encourage kids to feel free to socialize throughout the class, creating a relaxed environment. We will discuss crochet items we've seen and/or would like to create. Classes they would like to take in the future involving crochet. We all learn differently, I encourage students to ask if they feel they do not understand. This way we can work together to find the way each individual learns best.

Parental Guidance
The use of scissors for crochet is needed. The process of cutting the yarn at the end of any project. However, I do understand if a parent has a concern with using scissors on a project. If this may be an issue for you as a parent, please feel free to have your child ask you to cut the project for them. As an alternative finger nail clippers can easily be used to cut the yarn (I myself have used finger nail clippers in many projects).

Teacher expertise and credentials
I love all things crafts. I've been crocheting for over 30 years. At the age of 9 I found a basket tucked away in my mothers closet. Inside was a book, yarn, and a hook. I taught myself from the book and have been crocheting ever since. I create anything and everything from hats, blankets, scarves, to amigurumi.
I've also spent 15 years working with children as a teacher aide in preschool settings to working PPL and CDCN with children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
