Throughout the course of this class students will learn to use the basic techniques and single stitch crochet along with learning how to reduce while crocheting, which is the first step to shaping. Students will create their own crochet topped hand or dish towel like the one pictured. The basic crochet skills learned in this class can be applied to future classes and projects if students wish to progress and learn other techniques to create their own fiber art. Students will learn to apply single stitch crochet to a project. Students will learn to reduce when crocheting and complete a crochet topped dish or hand towel.
Homework will only be assigned if students struggle to keep up with the project. However practicing their crochet is encouraged.
Students will need: 1 dish or hand towel, 1 ball or skein of worsted weight cotton yarn, 1 darning needle with a large eye and a crochet hook size G, Scissors sharp enough to cut fabric.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will report on their progress and show pictures or video of their final project.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parental Guidance is required for the use of sharp objects. Students will be using scissors and needles for this class.
