Class Experience

Each week in The Crochet Club, we will unplug and get together and talk about crochet for 50 minutes. All of the sessions will be unique and special because you will be there! We will share our projects, our crochet related stories, our crochet knowledge and maybe even develop some new pattern ideas. :)

Please also join us if you are having trouble with a pattern, have a question about an abbreviation, want to learn a new stitch, or would just like to have help getting started. If you don't know anything about crochet, but have a yarn and a hook, and would like to get started, join us!

Because of the nature of the class, we should be able to see each other's work and hear one another. Sharing ideas and our work makes the club more fun and interactive!

Crochet hook buying guide:

Crochet hooks generally go with the size of the yarn. The most common is called "worsted weight" and generally takes a J through L hook (5-6mm). Beginners usually find it easier to work with bigger hooks. Other sizes of yarn such as "bulky" and "super bulky" can use hooks M through Q (10mm), and can even be finger crocheted. I have always bought Boyd brand hooks, but I recently came across a set on Amazon that had a bunch of extras with it and the hooks were decent, and abundant for the price. I love going to the craft store and grabbing a bag of mill ends for yarn. You usually get a variety to experiment with.
Learning Goals
This club will help develop our crochet skills and communication skills. All students are encouraged to give positive feedback on fellow student's work.

Supply List
Yarn, and hooks to go with that particular yarn. For instance, "super bulky" is a specific term for a kind of yarn that needs either an 8mm, 9mm, or 10mm hook. If you are unsure, please message me, or join me for one of my crochet classes!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a homeschooling mom, math and writing tutor, and STEM and crochet teacher. My teaching style is encouraging, engaging, and eclectic. I like to learn my student's interests and goals, then give them the tools to meet those goals using real-life examples from topics they love.

As a parent of a special needs child, I understand that not every student learns the same way, but each can be successful! My greatest joy is to help a student find their own power to learn, and in the process, discover the love of learning. :)

I think we learn better together, and on Outschool we have the privilege of learning with people from all over the world! I am grateful to be a part of such a wonderful platform.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope to see you in class!
