In this one-time beginner's crochet class, students will learn the most basic skills of crocheting: how to form a slip knot, crochet a chain, single crochet, and tying off the final project.

Class Experience

Beginner Level

In this class, I will introduce students to the basics of crochet. At the beginning of class, I will share information about yarn and crochet hooks. Then, I will model the following skills: forming a slip knot, crocheting a chain, and single crochet. I will model each step as many times as needed for students to feel confident with each skill. Students will learn how to crochet using single crochet. Students can use single crochet to create many projects, including scarves and afghans (blankets).

I have been crocheting for more than 20 years. It has always been a favorite activity of mine, and I would love to share it with you! I have made scarves, hats, blankets, sweaters, and other projects.

Yarn (medium weight, size 4)
Crochet hook (size I/9 - 5.5mm)
Scissors
Needle with a large eye (plastic or metal needle is fine)

Scissors are used to cut the yarn at the end of the project.
