In this multi-day class learners will learn the basics of crochet and enjoy making some fun and useful projects. This is a very hands-on class where learners are encouraged to stop the teacher for additional clarifications and help. It is a class for absolute beginners that want to gain a good foundation for the art of crochet. The class will begin with simple stitches such as a chain,double crochet and advance to more complicated stitches.. Each week a new project will be introduced. Learners will be able to share their work with classmates and explore design options and develop their skill level and confidence as they add on to their knowledge. This class will enable learners to begin to feel comfortable with the process of crochet. Projects: Week 1: Cool Cuffs : Making Friendship bracelets form basic chains Week 2 : A dishcloth Learn to stack chains and turn your work Week 3: A kindle, ipad or phone case Practice joining pieces Week 4: A long scarf learn to change color Week 5: Continue our long scarf project Week 6: Make a beanie learn to make pom-poms too
Learning Goals
Students will gain knowledge of the basics of crochet as they learn a new hobby. They will practice social skills as they share their work.

You will need: Crochet hooks Size H is a good size for beginners. I like wooden hooks but metal is fine scissors Cool Cuffs: assorted yarn small amounts Dish cloth 1 ball of cotton yarn Kindle/ipad/phone cover 1 skien any yarn Long scarf 1 skein 3 colors Beanie 1 skein any color You can buy yarn at craft stores, Walmart, Amazon(and actually some Dollar trees but their sizes are smaller so double up if you buy there)

Hi, my name is Miss Angie! I am a teacher of 20+ years. I follow a Charlotte- Mason/Waldorf inspired teaching philosophy and love teaching poetry, literature and handcrafts such as cross stich, embroidery, sewing and crochet. I am also passionate about tea and poetry tea times for a variety of age groups. I love allowing young minds to explore their creativity and believe in hands on/student led education.I believe in music and art as foundations for learning.
I have a BA in Speech and Drama with a minor in English and have taught music and theatre in addition to Language Arts , history and elementary school.
I'm also a mom of two fantastic daughters. The other love of my life is an adorable little Pomklee named Hunter.
I am very excited to share an exciting learning journey with you and your kids!
