  • 3. Learn how to begin a Magic Ring
I have over 5 years of experience in the fiber arts and 2 years of specifically teaching crochet here on Outschool. I have worked in different sectors of the eduction field, from schools to museums, for the last 10 years.
Students should be able to make a chain, a single crochet stitch, and have a basic understanding of how to count their stitches. I have other classes available for learning basic skills so you can always come back to this class later!
Materials we will need in class:
1. Yarn: I advise against using overly furry or fluffy yarns for beginners as the fluff hides the stitches.

2. Crochet hook: Your yarn label will suggest a good hook size to purchase

3. Stitch markers: Crochet stitch markers must be able to be opened. You can buy some on Amazon for as low as $2.00 for a pack. You can also use paper clips!

4. Scissors

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
Please speak to your student about how to use scissors safely. You know your learner best. If they need more guidance while using scissors, please be nearby to assist them. Thanks!
