Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner Level
Stuffed animals! Bags! Coasters! All of these exciting projects begin with the same thing: a circle.

Students in this class should already be comfortable making a square. We will dive into making a circle using two techniques. We will spend the majority of class working on the chain start. We will also learn the very beginning of a Magic Ring toward the end of the lesson.

My class sizes are always small so that each student has a chance to ask questions and get the support they need. I also scaffold my lessons so that students of different experience levels can walk away with a new skill.
(I do have private lessons available for students who need more one-on-one time.)
Learning Goals
1. Make a chain start circle
2. Make increase stitches to increase the size of our circle

Parental Guidance
Please speak to your student about how to use scissors safely. You know your learner best. If they need more guidance while using scissors, please be nearby to assist them. Thanks!
Pre-Requisites
Students should be able to make a chain, a single crochet stitch, and have a basic understanding of how to count their stitches. I have other classes available for learning basic skills so you can always come back to this class later!
Supply List
Materials we will need in class:
1. Yarn: I advise against using overly furry or fluffy yarns for beginners as the fluff hides the stitches.

2. Crochet hook: Your yarn label will suggest a good hook size to purchase

3. Stitch markers: Crochet stitch markers must be able to be opened. You can buy some on Amazon for as low as $2.00 for a pack. You can also use paper clips!

4. Scissors
