Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner Level
Crocheting is a fiber-arts hobby that is becoming increasingly popular to learn about! The possibilities are endless with this fantastic, relaxing activity that makes the artists feel confident and accomplished!

In this 5-week self-paced class, we will learn the basics of crocheting! This class is targeted toward beginners who have never tried to crochet before, or learners who are just starting out. We will learn the necessary tools, about different yarns, and then embark upon the basics of crocheting!

Please note that self paced classes DO NOT meet live! You will have access to the classroom and lessons through videos and classroom posts! Learners are expected to interact through sharing their work with the teacher in order to receive feedback accordingly! Learners will also need to purchase the necessary supplies and tools to complete their class projects (please see the syllabus and supply list for specifics).

Also, I am a right-handed crocheter who uses US terms. Left-handed crocheters may find it difficult to follow a right-handed person.

Hello, I’m Jessica, but feel free to call me Mrs. Jessica. I live in Kentucky, USA, with my husband, our adventurous toddler, and a house full of pets. I’m a passionate Dungeons and Dragons Game Master, creative writing enthusiast, and experienced online educator.

Over the past several years, I’ve had the joy of teaching thousands of Dungeons & Dragons sessions and leading creative writing classes that help students imagine and build new worlds. My teaching journey spans more than 7,000 online classes with learners from around the globe. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in literature and creative writing from Western Kentucky University and have professional experience as a content creator and editor for published works.

My specialty is creating unforgettable adventures and dynamic storytelling experiences through Dungeons & Dragons. Each campaign I run is entirely unique, shaped by my players' actions, preferences, and character development. I customize every session to foster immersive roleplaying and meaningful choices that bring the story to life. My focus is on worldbuilding, rich narratives, and creating collaborative environments where students feel empowered to tell their own tales.

I also lead a weekly creative writing class focused on post-apocalyptic fiction, which has been going strong for three years. Additionally, I host weekly anime and cosplay clubs, where students can connect over shared fandoms, showcase their creative projects, and build a supportive community of fellow fans. In all my classes, I strive to create a warm, welcoming space where students feel heard, valued, and free to express their creativity. My teaching style is conversational, upbeat, and infused with plenty of humor and fun!

When I’m not teaching, I’m painting, cosplaying, gardening, or playing D&D with my friends and family. Thank you for considering my classes! I look forward to meeting your learner soon and diving into an unforgettable story together!
