Beginner Level
This class will teach students the basics of crochet: how to hold the hook and yarn, starting a chain, turning the work, and working rows of single crochet, as well as how to tie off and weave in ends. Students will be shown how to create a single-color dishcloth in this class, but the stitch used is the basic crochet stitch that can be used in many other projects, such as scarves. Students do not need any prior crochet knowledge. If you are interested in this course but the current schedule does not meet your needs, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your schedule preferences.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to make a dishcloth using single crochet stitches.

Learning Needs
This is a hands-on activity class. I can teach both left and right-handed students. While I will be going over some basic pattern reading, it is not a required component of the course.
Supply List
Students will need yarn and a crochet hook. An H or G hook is recommended. Any brand of yarn will work, but the best choices for beginners are simple single color acrylic yarns that can be found at most stores. For younger learners, a bulky weight yarn in a single strand (my personal favorite is the Bernat Blanket Yarn) is also very easy to work with. If using a bulky weight yarn, you will need a size N hook. Ideally students will also have a yarn needle to weave in ends but it is not required. For students with sensory issues, it is helpful to allow them to test several yarn brands and types at the store before purchasing by rubbing the yarn across their fingers. Each brand of yarn will feel slightly different, and some can be a textural nightmare for sensitive students.
