This may be the class for you. Each week will focus on a different category of crime and one or more criminals. They are listed below by date. “If you are protected from dark things then you have no protection of, knowledge of, or...
Students will learn about the traits of different types of criminals, their motivations, and about their crimes.
I have my masters degree in counseling with focuses on children's psychology and additional training and experience in criminology. My bachelor's degree is in psychology. Some expertise areas that are utilized in this class are: 30 years of research skills. Psychology degrees to understand individual behavior, development, and cultural phenomena. I have taught classes on consent and safety and am an OWL certified trainer. I have raised 19 foster children and have extensive training. Many of my children are from traditionally marginalized groups. I have a Master's Degree in Community Counseling. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology. I have over 15 years of experience working in a correctional setting. I have run multiple programs within the Prison system. I have worked with criminals ranging from drug abusers to murderers. I have also trained as a school guidance counselor and worked with adolescents and teens for over a decade.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Warning: This class is NOT for everyone. You should be a fan of crime dramas and true crime documentaries. I may use violent or graphic videos. There may be swearing, brief nudity, or dead bodies as pertinent to the topic. There will 100% be stories that are scary. There will be stories about people who have died. There will be stories about people who have been killed. There will be stories about the people doing the killing. There are stories where people are assaulted, sometimes sexually. Many of the stories will be psychologically horrifying more than "Boo" horrifying. Stories may have: cannibalism, experiments, child abuse, child death, drug abuse, serial killers, assaults, and more. Please check the main page to see if you want your child attending specific classes. Teacher will give students chances to ask questions, check in, and provide feedback. Students will have chances to process information.
I have a wide breadth of experience and base knowledge in this subject area but also use sites like the APA for further research. While this class uses a lot of video documentation I also narrow that down to try to take complex issues and make them digestible and understandable in a short amount of time.
