In this two day class, students will learn the fundamentals of how a court proceeding works and get the chance to participate in a mock trial. On the first day, there will be a lecture about court proceedings and a review of the elements of a crime. Students will also be assigned a role on the first day. On the first day of class, students will be assigned a role. After class, students will be expected to study their role and prepare statements according to the roll assigned.
No outside materials are required. The teacher will send all materials necessary for the mock trial on the first day of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This class will cover aspects of criminal law and may contain mentions of violence, drugs & alcohol, and murder.
