This class is perfect for mystery and true crime lovers! Texts are suited for grades 5-9. Students will learn crime-related vocabulary (alibi, affidavit, misdemeanor, etc.), critical thinking skills, and practice applying evidence to analyze a fake mystery. All materials will be attached as a pdf that will be released a few minutes before class starts. I do not release materials early to ensure that students do not look over the cases ahead of time. Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No disturbing images (i.e. blood) or graphic readings/material will be included. The cases do center around a possible murder. There is a coroner's report reading, but no graphic or disturbing information is detailed.
