Happy Halloween everyone! You may know psychology as a relatively new yet very helpful field in society. It is the study of the mind, of human behavior, of diseases and disorders of the mind and how to fix them. But the study of Psychology wasn't always so focused on helping others. In fact, in the name of science and advancement, vulnerable people were often hurt and killed. This 1 hour, lecture style, class will tell the stories of those people. Students will learn about the creepy history of the American Asylum System, how it started, how it got as bad as it did, and how it ended.
I have my BA in Psychology and am Currently working through my MA in psychology. I have been tutoring and teaching small groups in psychology for the past 4 years.
no materials will be needed for this class
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class will be quite scary and disturbing in places because of the nature of the abuses of American asylums. That being said, the content will be age appropriate and students will have the opportunity to discuss their feelings on the subject matter. Please use your discretion when signing your child up.
