Creature Phonics Early Reading/Blending - CVC - Short 'u'

In this Early Reading Skills class, we will learn/practice the phonetic alphabet, as well as some specific blends that go with short 'u', and the consonants 'b', 'g', 'h', 'g' in the CVC pattern (bug, hug, rug).

Description

Class Experience

-At the beginning of class, I will greet and try to get to know each student's name. 
-Then each student will be invited to share about their favorite creature (please show us if possible) and I will write down the beginning sound of the creature's name on an external whiteboard.
-Next, I will share our "class rules";
-Then we will sing the phonetic ABC song;
-Next, I'll share a bit about how letters represent sound
-Then we'll play a little game giving the learners a chance to try to guess...

The goal is to help students begin to recognize the phonetic alphabet as well as blend a few letters together to make short three-letter 
words in the CVC format (consonant - vowel - consonant) with the short 'u' sound.

I am a retired home educator who loves to see children get a good foundation when learning to read.
