Calling all animal lovers! Are you ready to explore Earth's habitats and learn about the animals that live in them! Then let's get started! Learners will begin class with a quick ice breaker to help them get to know each other! We will look at pictures and learn fun facts about a different animal each week. We will investigate what they looked like, what they ate, and where they lived. Learners will learn about different animal classifications. We will be discussing predators and their...
Learners will be encouraged to share their thinking and ask questions. Learners will learn about form and construction using basic shapes to create a drawing of characters and creatures. Learners will gain confidence in their speaking and writing by sharing their thoughts with others. Learners will investigate different animals we find around the world. Learners will practice their social skills by talking with friends and taking turns listening and speaking. Learners will improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary by learning fun facts about a variety of animals. Learners will practice their creativity and fine motor skills by drawing. Learners will practice their writing skills by writing in complete sentences.
No homework is required.
Learners will need the 1-2 page handout for each week's meeting. Learners will need a pencil and art supplies such as markers, crayons, and colored pencils. Learners may want a notebook or a three ring binder to keep their weekly sheets together.
No assessments are given.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be discussing predators and their prey. This can be upsetting to sensitive learners.
