Description
Class Experience
* Students will be introduced to writing territories, a useful technique for coming up with ideas to write about. * Students will see that writing is a process that takes time. * Students will build confidence in their own writing. * Students will create their own writing territories list and a short piece based of of one of their writing territories.
In this class, students will be asked to expand on their writing territories list and submit it for feedback after class. Students will be asked to submit their in class writing for feedback. If they did not finish their in class writing, they will be asked to finish it prior to submission.
Students should come with a pencil, a notebook, and an open mind! If students prefer to type out their writing on the computer, they may use a digital word processor instead of a pencil and notebook.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will receive feedback on their writing territories list and in class writing after class. ** The Writer's Workshop Model typically utilizes teacher-student conferences during in-class writing time. Due to the online nature of this course, 1:1 conferences will be replaced with detailed, personalized student feedback on each piece of submitted writing. Parents are also welcome to discuss the possibility of scheduling a separate, private tutoring session with me to go over their child's writing in more detail if needed.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
