Class Experience

Hi engineers & creative friends! In this ongoing class we will have lots of fun as we use our imagination to solve different problems by creating. This class is for students who love building, making, creating, and sometimes getting a little messy. Each week a different challenge will be presented and students will solve the challenge by making some type of design or drawing their design ideas on paper.

Class format:
5 minutes- Introduce weekly challenge
5 minutes- Problem solve together & start brainstorming the plan
20 minutes- Create
5 minutes- Share * I never make my learners share, only if they want to show off their designs. *

In my classes you will find learners sharing & having fun! I encourage active participation from all my students who like to participate. I believe creativity can be expressed in different ways, which is why students are always encouraged to design and create what they think works for the challenge.

Weekly topics:

January 10th- Bridge building
January 17th- Maze Creation
January 24th- Candy Invention
January 31st- Kitchen tools
February 7th- Marshmallow tower
February 14th- Car Designs

February 28th- No class

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! My name is Beckie and I live in Georgia. I have been teaching in a public school setting for 8 years. I've taught 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th grade. I love providing my students with hands-on and engaging activities. I believe in implementing STEM, critical thinking, and higher levels of learning in the classroom setting. My favorite part of teaching is when my learners share their excitement with others. My goal is for your child to not only learn new concepts, but to build a passion for something new. I was voted "Teacher of the Year" a few years ago; therefore, I strive to provide my students with a learning environment that gets them excited to learn new concepts and ideas.
In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, and exploring new parks with my family. I look forward to teaching your child!
