Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Adrian Sydor.

I'm very interested in nature, writing, and exploration. I've worked in the field of environmental education for multiple years at Forest Preserves and a National Park. This has included teaching school groups about wildlife, ecosystems, and ecology. I volunteer with habitat restoration at forest preserves which includes cutting down and removing invasive species, harvesting seeds, and monitoring wildlife. Attendance at professional development meetings has inspired me to teach young learners. My goal is to share my knowledge about the natural world around us and to equip young learners with a strong knowledge about plants, animals, and ecosystems. Furthermore, I strive to help students create a strong base of knowledge so that they can learn lifelong study skills and be able to continue learning about their environmental interests by themselves.

I have also found writing to be an extremely useful tool when it comes to expressing our thoughts, describing what we observe in nature, and by exploring new concepts. I love to hike and spend a lot of time in nature and journal in my notebook. I believe that writing and science go hand in hand. Therefore, writing skills can, and definitely should, be developed while exploring nature.

I am currently offering science related, environmentally focused classes, as well as writing lessons. I'm excited to have the opportunity to work on the Outschool platform and hope to work with your learner in the very near future.
