We'll be exploring how to write characters with complex wants, needs, and flaws, as well as how to write a character arc (how a character changes through a story). Through the course of the class we'll explore the character arcs of characters you may be familiar with, such as Prince Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Adora and Catra from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and Steven from Steven Universe! Whether you're writing for fun, for RP, or your first book - or, you just want to understand characters a little better - these skills will help you created great characters that you'll have fun writing audience will love reading! During this class, I will teach narrative theories in easy to grasp ways through presentation and open discussion. The first half of the class will be going over the basic building blocks of a character arc, while the last half will involve me guiding the students in creating their own character using the skills we've learned together. No materials are required for this class, only a love of character and an eagerness to make them!
