After some creative writing warm-ups, learners will have the opportunity to free-write a short story using story starters. This is a great way to improve writing skills, write on-demand, and improve vocabulary. Learners will have the opportunity to share their work with their classmates. However, this is not required. All work will be throughly reviewed and commented on by the teacher, a former journalist and current high school ELA teacher. This class is meant to be fun yet beneficial for...
Students will: - improve writing skills - learn vocabulary - learn how to write "on-demand" (think SAT writing or in-class essays) - improve creativity - improve grammar
Students will need paper and pen/pencil or access to Google docs or MS Word.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will receive feedback on their work through comments and a short, written assessment.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
