Ever had to write a story and your brain is just STUCK? Me too... But when I started using 5-minute writing exercises, it was a game-changer. My writing was transformed, and yours can be too. In this class, I will take you through 4 simple writing tasks to help your writing brain to get unstuck, and by the end of the session, you'll have so many ideas for stories, you'll be bursting! Each exercise takes only 5 minutes, and each one could lead you to an exciting new story, or help to develop a story you're already writing. Whatever your goal, these exercises are sure to help.
Learning Goals
Students will try out 4 simple and accessible writing exercises to unlock their ideas if they're ever feeling stuck when writing stories.
By the end of the session, each learner will have generated some new ideas which they can apply to an active story, or use to start new stories.

Supply List
All students will need note paper and a pen or pencil. Students may, if they want, bring a story they are writing that they are perhaps stuck on.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I'm a qualified teacher, experienced in teaching English, History, Music, and Art. I home educated my two children, who are now at university, and I have taught in mainstream schools, and in Special-Ed schools.
I have also taught piano, guitar, singing, and music theory, taking students through grade examinations.
I am experienced in teaching the British GCSEs, and through home-schooling, I taught my own children using American curriculum. I teach Language Arts, English Literature and Language, Creative Writing, Poetry - both writing, and reading, and many other fantastic and interesting topics.
I teach writing skills using the Writing Revolution techniques, and have seen students improve their writing skills rapidly using some of the techniques applied.
In addition, I worked as a graphic designer for 10 years, working from home, and offer graphic design and video editing classes, using Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and soon, Affinity creative suite.
Growth Mindset is very important in my classes, and I encourage it in all learners - Growth Mindset is the belief that even if you can't do something or don't understand something, then you CAN learn how to do it or understand it. Growth Mindset says "I can't do it YET, but I can learn." Learning happens through making mistakes, and then modifying your approach, changing what you do, to improve.
