In this 6 week course, students will become familiar with realistic fiction writing and go through an entire writing process. They will be planning, drafting, editing, revising, and learning how to improve their writing.

Students will improve their writing by going through the writing process and writing their own realistic fiction story. In addition to that, students will learn about specific beneficial writing strategies to make their work more engaging to read. Specifically, the following skills/topics will be covered, taught, and practiced: all about realistic fiction, brainstorming, topic development, planning, storyline structure, engaging beginnings, drafting, internal and external dialogue, including more detail, the "show not tell" strategy, including transitional words, editing, and revising.
