This class will be a fun, low-stress environment designed to help 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls develop a love for writing by utilizing topics that many girls this age love, like unicorns, fairies, princesses, and mermaids! 🧚♀️ 🦄 🧜♀️ 👑 Ms. Price believes that learning should be fun, and she will use her skills as a certified teacher to incorporate writing instruction into a fun, interactive class! In addition to developing creative writing skills, learners will enjoy developing their social...
This class is taught in English.
🎨 Students will improve their creative writing skills through learning to use their right brain (creative side) to draw colorful pictures based off a prompt given by the teacher. 🔈 Students will improve their verbal communication skills by describing the picture that they drew to their peers and teacher. 📝 Students will improve their writing skills by taking the story that they have verbally told and putting it on paper, adding details to make it come to life! Students will learn how adjectives help bring a written story to life, the way that color brings a picture to life! 👯♀️ Students will develop their interpersonal skills as they share ideas with others, provide positive feedback to one another, and have fun connecting with other girls their age through this fun class!
Ms. Price received her bachelors degree from Texas Woman's University in English Language Arts in 2006. She then went on to obtain her EC-4 (Early Childhood - 4th grade) teaching certification and teach elementary-aged students for nearly a decade. While Ms. Price taught all subject matter as an elementary teacher, reading and writing are her areas of expertise and her absolute favorite subjects to teach!
There will be no assigned homework. However, some students may not finish writing out their stories during class and they may wish to complete their story before the next class and share it in the classroom or bring it to the next class to share verbally with their peers. This is 100% optional.
1. Blank white paper on which to draw or color 2. Crayons, markers, or colored pencils (due to time constraints, paints would not be appropriate for this class) 3. Lined paper on which to write out a story 4. Pen or pencil with which to write out story Please reach out with any questions about this supply list before class!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please note: The themes for this particular class are ones that traditionally elementary-aged girls enjoy, but all learners are welcome in my classes (as long as they are within the correct age range). I just want to make sure that parents are aware of the focus of this class, so that they can evaluate if it is a good fit for their learner! If your child loves unicorns, mermaids, princesses, and fairies, your child will love this class!
