In this ongoing class, students will create memoirs based off small moments they experience in life.
Class experience
US Grade 7 - 10
In this creative writing class, every week students will choose a small moment they have experienced in their lives. Before class starts, they will share this moment on the classroom page. During video chats each week, each student will discuss their moment for ten minutes giving every detail they remember about the memory they are sharing. Then, I will have each student identify the lesson they learned from this moment, and the importance this moment had on their life. After identifying the...
Students will improve their writing skills, and learn to use conversations, transitions, aspects of a story, figurative language, and parts of speech correctly. Students will also learn how to write a memoir.
I am a certified teacher for early education through middle school. I taught in the classroom in New Jersey where I live, and now own a tutoring company. I have tutored writing for over 15 years, and have helped students to recognize the developments of their writing over time.
Homework Offered
Students will have to type a final draft each week after a class video chat. Before the video chat, they will have to write a comment on the classroom on their opinion of the visual posted.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students final writing pieces will be assessed and advice will be given by the teacher each week.Grades Offered
Paper and pencil!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
