Scylla and Charybdis are beasts to battle in a sea of monsters! Writers in this multi-day writing camp learn techniques for story development and then they spend time in class writing. Students will learn to weave their own mini hero's journey! Each live class includes explicit, direct instruction with teacher modeling, guided feedback, and independent practice. Further, students get to read their story segments aloud to the rest of the class if they want (it is not required). Students...
This class is comprehensive, and students: 1. build confidence in their ability to write effectively. 2. learn to write fiction and to let themselves be creative. 3. learn to use correct grammar when writing. 4. learn to generate ideas, organize their thoughts, and to think when writing. 5. learn to use a process that strengthens their ideas, organization, word choice, sentence fluency, voice, and conventions. 6. learn to work independently, using resources and a reliance on their mastery of new skills.
The founder of Lemons-Aid, Mrs. Lemons has a B.A. in English and an M.Ed in Education Administration. She is certified to teach English, has a principal's license, and has many years of experience at every level. She also supervises teachers in their undergraduate and graduate-level teacher preparation programs at Colorado Christian University. She is a teacher of teachers. All teachers who teach this class have an appropriate degree, teaching experience, and training, giving your learner a teacher who is a content-area expert who loves kids. Mrs. Lemons is very selective and only hires the very best. They are star teachers!
Students may have 10-20 minutes of homework after each class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
