Zombies, werewolves, and monsters can be lots of fun! In this class, each student will each share a scary word. These words will become the framework of the story. Together we will brainstorm and develop the characters, plot, and storyline using the list of words. Stories will be shared and students see how everyone's story is different. We will practice by taking some of the student's sentences from their outline and developing them into exciting sentences using adjectives and strong verbs. This has been a favorite exercise for all my writing classes. Take a sentence like "She ran out of the house." and turn it into "The terrified girl screamed and ran down the dark alley to get away from the zombie. Students will be encouraged to write the outline in class, some student may move into story development. This is a case focused on creativity. Students will be encouraged to write and share their creative thoughts with classmates.. This will be a small class of no more than 6 learners to ensure engagement interaction and support. This class will need several students to ensure interaction and spark creativity. Please note - Depending on the number of students and their skill level, this class might end a few minutes early or run 5-10 minutes extra.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have always been obsessed with writing. I remember in the third grade I wrote a short story and my teacher chose me to present it in a city-wide oratory. I was hooked, I wanted to be a writer. In college, I took many classes in writing but they seemed to stifle my creativity and my career took a different direction.
For me, writing is a way of breaking away from reality because, as one of my professors told me, "the paper will never reject my pen". Now, I enjoy blogging, journaling, and teaching creative writing to young learners. I hope to see your child in my classroom!
