Homework
1-2 hours per week. Almost every class will have a writing assignment. Sometimes these will be short and completed during class. Other times these will be longer homework assignments such as writing a short story or essay. This homework will take a couple of hours a week.
Assessment
I will look over every assignment and give learners feedback. Usually, this consists of what they did well and what they can work on for next time. I will generally give progress reports to parents if I notice something noteworthy, but if you would like me to assess your child in a specific way, please let me know.

Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, I will work with students one-on-one and help them with their creative writing. Every lesson will be personalized to fit the student's interests and needs. For example, if a student loves a certain video game and struggles with writing descriptively, we will write descriptions of their favorite characters from that game. While creative writing is the focus, I can also teach general writing skills if requested.

I will generally begin class with a lesson and then introduce a writing prompt. Students will usually have time to write during class, but what they don't complete will be homework. I will look over assignments outside of class and prepare feedback in order to help the student grow. We will take extra time on a particular topic if the student is struggling and I will adjust lessons to best fit their needs.

I am a very relaxed teacher that encourages questions and discussion. I want my classroom to be a safe environment where students can unleash their creativity. My biggest goal is to make writing fun.

NOTE: In order to make the most of our lessons, I will try my best to get in touch via Outschool messages before the first lesson. I would like to know about the learner's background in writing along with what you would like us to focus on. It's also helpful to know what kind of video games, TV shows, and characters interest them. If there is anything special you would like such as meeting more than once a week or having more than one learner, please let me know and I will see if I can accommodate you. I am personally knowledgeable about many video game characters.

If for any reason, the learner is unable to attend a future class please let me know as soon as possible so I can cancel that week's session. If you are planning a longer break such as a vacation, please also let me know as soon as possible. Outside of an emergency, I will not give a refund if the learner does not show up to class and I was not contacted beforehand.

The lessons each weeks will vary depending on the learner and their interests and needs.
Sample 4-Week Breakdown:
Week 1: Questionnaire. Popcorn story exercise.
Week 2: Writing Descriptions: Practicing adjectives. Adjective Madlibs.
Week 3: Writing Descriptions: Using the five senses. Write a description of your pet.
Week 4: Writing Descriptions: Practicing similes. Write a description of your dream vacation.

Learning Goals
